Winning ‘Volunteer of the Year’ at CEDIA

New Wave AV employee, Damien Smith, has won CEDIA’s ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award for 2023. As a home technology specialist with an exceptional reputation across Kent, Surrey, Essex, London and Sussex, we’re really proud of our team and want to congratulate Damien on this excellent achievement.

Damien began his audio/video (AV) career in 1998, providing televisions and other products of his local Bang & Olufsen showroom. An advocate for industry education, he regularly holds RIBA and BIID accredited CPD training and previously served on CEDIA’s Industry and Relations Advisory Council.

What is CEDIA?

CEDIA stands for the ‘Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association.’ It is a global trade association that installers can join to commit to best practice and industry education. CEDIA is the oldest and largest provider of education in the industry and exists to allow its members to lead the way when it comes to design, technical capabilities and customer service. All CEDIA members must follow the association’s rigorous Code of Ethics, upheld by the CEDIA Ethics Council, to ensure their work is delivered with the utmost professionalism.

While CEDIA membership isn’t compulsory, it gives members access to vast educational resources, training and special events to keep them best informed on how to deliver industry-leading smart home systems. CEDIA membership can help smart home specialists gain client confidence as it shows a higher level of commitment and professionalism than those who do not have CEDIA membership.

New Wave and Accredited & Structured CPD

At New Wave AV, we’re extremely proud of our CEDIA membership and, as a brand, represent the highest level in CEDIA standards. We’ve been award finalists several times and this recognition for Damian Smith has been a cause for celebration across the business.

As experienced smart home installers in Kent, we also offer a selection of CPD courses by CEDIA that are designed not only to provide our partners with valuable RIBA and BIID points, but also impart key information from the world of AV that will help to ensure the success of any residential build project. Our structured CPD courses include ‘Designing the Connected Home.’ This explores why good design is so essential in the connected home and the possibilities for integrating technology in projects for your clients. We also offer the ‘Designing Home Cinema & Media Rooms’ programme. This looks at how to design and implement entertainment spaces and helps professionals learn about industry vocabulary and components used as well as how to work with a system designer to fulfil a client brief.

Contact New Wave AV today for all of your smart home needs. From TV rooms and multimedia spaces to beautifully crafted home cinemas, we can make your dreams a reality. Our smart home installers work across Kent, Surrey, Essex, London and Sussex.
